God's story is BIG. God created everything we see including us. His beautiful creation however mistrusted him and fell into sin. To save us from that sin, he sent his son Jesus Christ to atone for man's failure. Jesus died on a cross and rose again to provide us the reunion with God we most desperately desire.
IN THE BEGINNING
Genesis (1:1) says a lot. First God created the heavens and the earth. Notice God is mentioned first as he has always existed.
As creator and ruler of the universe, he reveals himself as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; each unique but inseparable God.
THE BIBLE IS GOD INSPIRED WORD
We believe the Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16), and God, through the Holy Spirit, guided the thoughts and writings of those who wrote the Bible (2 Pet. 1:20-21).
The Bible is our only guide and source of authority for everything we do. We strive to do nothing more, nothing less and nothing else than what the Bible says.
WE ARE MADE IN HIS IMAGE
We were made to be like Him in character and likeness. We were beautifully made to be with God.
YET WE ARE BROKEN
The fall of man in the Garden of Eden set the course for humans. We are marred by disobedience, guilt and sometimes shame.
Man was created to exist forever. Either we will exist eternally separated from God by sin or will be reunited through forgiveness and salvation.
WHO IS JESUS?
Jesus Christ is the son of God. He was sent to us, born of a virgin and lived a sinless human life. He is fully God and fully man and now sits with the Father in heaven.
WHAT WAS THE MISSION?
A rescue mission saves those that can't save themselves from immediate peril. Jesus offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on the cross.
THE FAITH OF WITNESSES
Without the resurrection of Jesus; faith and Christian hope are diminished. Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to many witnesses.
This witness is still at work through the power of the Holy Spirit to make all aware of their need for Jesus Christ.
God gives eternal security to those who believe and give their life to Christ. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God. We are, as Peter says, "Kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation." (1 Peter 1:5)
Believers respond to the Gospel through the new birth (John 3:3-5)
WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT?
Jesus was asked the same thing. His answer is quite simple; love God and love your neighbor.
Jesus' entire life was an example showing us that loving God will produce exactly the life God expects.
LOVE IS NOT PASSIVE
Love is not just an emotion or something we feel. It produces actions that exemplify what love is.
If we truly understand the love and grace of Jesus Christ, we will love people and show them there is is no greater acceptance or sense of belonging than through the love of Jesus.
QUESTIONS OR THOUGHTS?
We believe in continuously searching the scriptures to ensure our beliefs, actions and evangelism are pleasing to God (Acts 17:11). We simply desire to be the localized church Jesus established (Matt 16:18). Thus we take the name "church of Christ" (Romans 16:16). If you have questions regarding our beliefs, worship practices, etc., we would love to hear from you. Perhaps we can encourage each other to follow God more closely.
